£20,000 still available in coalfield funds

22 October, 2019

Local organisations in the former Kent coalfield area are invited to apply for grants from a mining backed regeneration body.

Earlier this year, the Coalfield Regeneration Trust tasked the Aylesham Community Workshop Project Trust with allocating a £30,000 fund.

Workshop trustees met last month and awarded almost £10,000 to projects. The trust now welcomes bids for the remaining £20,000.

Of the money allocated, £5,000 will go to the cost of a new tractor to help maintain the grounds at Tilmanstone Welfare club. The welfare’s bowls club will receive £2,132 towards major work on the bowling green.

Aylesham & Snowdown Welfare Bowls Club successfully applied for £1,200 towards replacing its outside furniture. Roses Tearoom & Thrift shop in Milner Crescent, Aylesham, was awarded £1,000 to help pay for having its own electricity supply installed. Currently, the shop shares a supply with the parish council offices.

Application forms are available from workshop trust secretary, Lisa Pope on 01304 842826 or lisa@aylesham. org.uk Please bear in mind this fund is for the communities of Aylesham, Betteshanger, Elvington, Mill Hill and Snowdown. Projects need to be completed and money claimed by the end of April 2020.
