Beavers and Cubs groups initial meeting for leaders

6 October, 2017

An initial meeting to form Beavers and Cubs groups in Aylesham will be held on Thursday 12 October at the Bechange community hub in the village.

Adults who have previously shown interest in helping to run the groups are invited to attend and discuss training with Scouts group leaders from the movement’s Deal, Walmer & Sandwich District.

For those who cannot arrange childcare, an optional supervised crèche will be provided at the meeting.

Over the next few weeks, volunteers will take part in a support programme organised by the Scouts to enable them to hold the first Beavers meeting – for six to eight year olds – in the village on Thursday 2 November at Bechange.

It is hoped that a Cubs group – suited for eight to 11 year olds – can be launched later in November, also meeting at Bechange on a Thursday evening. Depending on the success of these groups, there is a longer term plan to create a Scouts group in Aylesham in the latter part of 2018.

If you would like to help the Scouts you can get more information from Deal, Walmer & Sandwich Scouts District Commissioner Alan Noake on 07525 633435 or alan.noake@kentscouts.org.uk
