Boxing tournament promises knockout entertainment

27 November, 2019

This Saturday (30 November) sees Aylesham Amateur Boxing Club hosting a major show with 21 bouts lined up through the afternoon.

To be held at the club’s HQ in the Aylesham Workshop Project building in Ackholt Road, the first contest will get under way from 1pm.

With emphasis on fitness, safety and sportsmanship, the club’s junior members will be first in the ring taking, followed by teenage and youth pairings.

Senior boxers up to 18 years old compete later in the afternoon and their bouts will be held under England Boxing rules. Local boxers will be taking on visitors from Ireland and other parts of south east England.

Referees for the occasion will be Jeff Cornell and John Green. A full range of services will be on hand including a doctor.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the tournament by Hall of Fame boxing historian Harold Aderman.

Adult tickets are £15 each, £5 for seniors and children. The proceeds will go to Aylesham BC. The event has been supported by the Aylesham Workshop Trust.
