Historic Village plaque is refurbished

16 May, 2017

Aylesham’s Historic Village plaque is now back in place on the green at Market Square after refurbishment by Dover District Council.

The metal base has been repainted and the lettering along the top has been carefully picked out in gold paint by the community assets team. The council’s museums’ service arranged for the creation and design of new text and imagery of the plaque itself and this was installed earlier this week. The text, which details Aylesham’s history, is in English and French. The work has been funded by Aylesham Parish Council.

The district council is in the process of refurbishing a number of other Historic Village plaques across its area.
