Housebuilder keeps county ‘home and dry’ with donation to Kent Search and Rescue

21 March, 2022

Barratt Homes has donated £1,000 to volunteer call-out service Kent Search and Rescue. The housebuilder, who is building new homes at its Aylesham Village development, made the donation from its Community Fund initiative, which sees the housebuilder invest in the communities close to its developments. The donation will go towards funding the emergency vehicle and power boat and purchasing medical equipment.

Kent Search and Rescue (KSAR) supports emergency services in Kent during the search and rescue of vulnerable persons. The volunteers make themselves available every day of the year and provide help to the Kent Police, Fire Department, Southeast Coast Ambulance Service, and HM Coastguard. The donation from Barratt Kent will ensure that the team is able to continue its lifesaving rescue services by covering the ongoing maintenance costs of its vehicles. The charity also runs community operations such as Safe and Dry, which raises awareness of alcohol-related drowning risks.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent, commented: “With the emergency services stretched at the moment, additional support from charities such as KSAR are invaluable. Not only do they help individuals in crisis, but also the wider community, having previously provided COVID-19 testing and medication deliveries. We want our residents and communities across Kent to feel as though they will receive as much help as they need during difficult times, and we hope our donation will allow Kent Search and Rescue to continue to provide its lifesaving services.”

Brian Tinham, fundraising manager for KSAR, has commented: “Kent Search and Rescue has been called out over 200 times in the past three years, and that number continues to grow. The donation from Barratt Kent means we can continue our volunteering work, providing services such as boat, bike, and air teams to aid those in need, as well as expanding our emergency equipment.”

Barratt Kent is currently building a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments at its Aylesham Village development, where prices start from £164,995 for a 50% share of a one-bedroom apartment.
