It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

1 December, 2017

Don’t forget the lights on Aylesham’s Christmas tree in the Market Place will be officially switched on tomorrow (Saturday 2 December) at 6pm.

All residents are welcome to join in the countdown beforehand and watch Rob from Aylesham Carnival Association flick the big switch to power up the coloured lights. Rob was invited to turn on the lights by organisers Aylesham4Aylesham as he has supplied a village tree for the past 15 years.

This time Aylesham Parish Council has supplied the tree while several businesses have delved deep into their pockets to help pay for its installation and the 150 metres of lights needed to deck out the tree.

They include Barratt Homes, East Kent Recycling, FineView, Karllee, Ovendens, Sharpak Aylesham. Aylesham Co-op staff, Aylesham Carnival Association and Hayley’s Sweetshop.

Earlier in the day, between 10am and 2pm, you can start to get into the Christmas spirit by visiting St Peter’s Church in Dorman Avenue North for its festive coffee morning. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available.

Between 11am and 3pm visit the Ratling Club in Ratling Road where members hold their Christmas fair offering home made craft items, raffle, glitter tattoos and refreshments. Money raised will be donated to support the village’s community ambulance first responder.
