Santander donates £5k to Bechange’s work

31 January, 2018

The Santander Foundation, through the bank’s Dover branch, has donated £5,000 to Aylesham based charity Bechange.

The money is already helping support its work with disadvantaged people in communities around the Dover area.

Bechange is delivering a regular drop-in service where people can come for guidance and support on a range of financial issues including budgeting, understanding benefits, reducing debt, maximising income and understand financial services.  Individual support ensures families are able to tackle financial crises and develop skills so they can access services in the future.

Angela Doggett, Chief Executive at Bechange, said: “We have seen a sharp increase in families who are in financial crisis. This award enables us to help more local people and assist them in taking control of their finances.

“Since receiving the grant we have supported 18 local people with a range of financial issues including debt, benefit entitlement and budgeting advice. We have also joined the Santander team at Dover during their recent fraud awareness week to meet customers and raise awareness of Bechange services.”

David Waterfield, Santander’s Dover branch director, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to causes throughout the UK. We are delighted to support Bechange and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
