Transport service to visit Aylesham

1 August, 2018

Aylesham residents who would like to find out more about how to use a pilot transport service can meet the operating team at Roses Tearoom & Thrift Shop in Milner Crescent, tomorrow (Thursday 2 August).

Thanet Community Transport Association is running the project with Dover District Council to offer residents across the district the chance to use a flexible public transport alternative.

TCTA’s manager Jane Cribben will be on hand at the tearooms from 11am to answer questions and provide more information about its services both to individuals and groups.

The association has a large fleet of purpose designed minibuses and is able to pick up and drop off people from their homes to their destinations from £3.50 per person for each single journey.

An annual membership of £20 for individuals, or £35 for a group, is required first but TCTA vehicles, which are able to accommodate wheelchair users, can collect you from your door and pick you up again from your destination at agreed times.

The pilot scheme has been launched in Dover District, following work by the council to help the association access funding from the Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs Programme, and to promote the service locally.

Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access, said: “We were very pleased to be able to help TCTA access funding to expand services into the district, and in particular to provide a new offer for those who rely on public transport in rural areas.”

Jayne Cribben, TCTA Manager, said: “We are fully committed to developing community transport services, and we are delighted with the support we’ve been given to help us expand our services into Dover District.”

The dial-a-ride service can be accessed by calling 01843 602030. Journeys are subject to agreement with TCTA on booking. For more information on TCTA, please
