What’s On In and Around Aylesham – from Wed 2 August

This events list is compiled by Dover District Council. Don’t forget, our full list of regular events happening in the village can be seen on their own page at the Aylesham Garden Village website,  Weekly mother & baby, parent & toddler groups – many of which are currently on summer holidays –  are included along with youth club and library activities

Wednesday 2 August 1pm-2.30pm – Bechange, Ackholt Road. Little Green Fingers Club aims to enable small children to explore the charity’s community garden and learn about the environment through play and fun activities. The club costs £1 for the first child and 50p for every sibling. Free refreshments will be provided. Please dress for the weather! If it is bad, then activities will move indoors. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Wednesday 2 August 7pm-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, non contact rugby for boys and girls aged 11 years or more. Organised by Snowdown CW Rugby Club, no experience is needed and all equipment will be provided, just bring a bottle of water to drink. Admission charge applies. These weekly sessions are a result of support from Premiership rugby club Harlequins.

Thursday 3 August 5-6pm and 6-7pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Pie Factory Music youth team hosts free summer sports sessions for children and young adults every Thursday evening until Thursday 31 August. Session one, held 5-6pm, is for eight to 12 year olds and session two is for 13-19 year olds between 6-7pm.

Friday 4 August 10am-12pm – Bechange, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Saturday 5 August 12pm-2pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Children’s Soccer Saturdays for kids under 16. Bring your mates and have a kick about on the 3G pitch. Price £2 each. More information from the centre on 01304 840661.

Monday 7 August 1pm-2.30pm – Every Monday during the school holidays Pie Factory Music staff will be found on the field area alongside the new road, close to the health centre, to lead free games and activity sessions for youngsters. This is in addition to the youth club sessions run by Pie Factory on Tuesday evenings at the Baptist Church in Dorman Avenue South.

Monday 7 – Friday 11 August, 9am to 3.30pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Beyond Limits hosts a kids’ summer academy. Activities will include sports, boot camps and team building exercises. Cost will be £10 per day or £40 for the week. Register interest now via 07736 353446 or email beyondlimitskent@outlook.com.

Monday 7 August 7pm-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane, Beyond Limits Boot camp for the village. Fitness sessions for adults and children. More information about ticket prices available from the leisure centre.

Monday 7 August 7-8pm – Aylesham Community Project , Ackholt Road. High Intensity Interval Training with BH Dance. £5 on the door, no booking required and second class is free. HIIT workouts are based around the love of dance. The class is for all fitness levels and uses the latest functional training methods to get fast results. BH Dance with Abi is non-judgemental and supportive.

Tuesday 8 August – Aylesham Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Youth club meetings led by Pie Factory Music in three sessions according to age group. 5-6.30pm – Junior session for children in school years four to seven. Activities include art and craft, music, games and table tennis. 6.30pm to 7pm – Training and development session for school years eight to 13. The emphasis is on training to be a volunteer, achieve awards, update CVs and improve employability. 7pm to 9pm – Senior session for young people in years eight to 13. Tuesday 8 August 7-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. High Intensity Interval Training with BH Dance. Call to book, free for leisure centre members and £5 for non-members.

Tuesday 8 August 7-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Snowdown Colliery RFC training session. Also on Thursday evenings. New players welcome. Wednesday 9 August 10.30am-12.30pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Walking football session for over 50s. Non competitive, non contact football and work out.

Wednesday 9 August 10am – 12pm – St Peters Church, Dorman Avenue North, weekly arts & crafts group meeting. Cups of tea, a chance to chat as well as enjoy either painting, drawing, knitting or sewing. No experience needed, please just turn up and meet the friendly group, everyone welcome.

Thursday 10 August 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Saturday 23 September – Put this date in your diaries now! Aylesham Carnival will be held on this day. More details to follow nearer the time.

Among the regular events held in Aylesham are dance classes organised by KCs Dancers. The school is active six days a week. You can view its website for times, venues and prices here.

Weekly groups for mothers and babies are now in recess for the summer holidays and will resume in early September.
