This listing also includes regular events held at the Bechange Community Hub which forms part of the Aylesham Community Workshop Trust site in Ackholt Road.

Wednesday 28 November 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Wednesday 28 November 3pm-7pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Aylesham Hub group holds a listening event offering residents an opportunity to voice their ideas around a new social hub for the village. Young people will be able to complete a survey of their own about Aylesham’s facilities.

Wednesday 28 November 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 29 November 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Friday 30 November 10am-2pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 30 November 11.15am-1.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Friday lunch club for those aged 55 or more. £5 for a two course lunch, cuppa and a raffle. Mini market from 12pm to 1.30pm as well.

Friday 30 November 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 30 November 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. If you think your child might be interested in joining, or you are willing to help run the group, please get in touch with leader Cassandra Osborne via 01304 841573 or 07488 243525.

Saturday 1 December from 4pm – Christmas market and lights switch on, Market Place,  There will be a variety of stalls to include selling Christmas decorations and personalised gifts, sweets and novelties, jewellery, face painting, tombola stalls along with local information stalls, a refreshment stall and Woody’s barbecue. The Aylesham4Aylesham team has a selection of baubles available with the opportunity to insert a personal  message  to be placed on the Christmas tree.

Snowdown Band will be performing from 6pm with an interlude at 6.30pm for a performance by Minster Handbells. The band will resume at 7pm to celebrate switching on the tree’s lights.

Aylesham4 Aylesham looks forward to the community coming together and taking part in this major village event.  Any volunteer support with setting up earlier in the afternoon would be very much appreciated.

Monday 3 December – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Tuesday 4 December 9.30am-11.30am – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Weekly session to help people brush up on their Maths, organised by East Kent College from entry level to level two. Book a place by calling Bechange on 01304 840134.

Tuesday 4 December  6.10pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Drum n Bass Workout. 7pm Fierce- The Dance Workout for all ages (14+ with a participating adult).

Tuesday 4 December 7.15pm – 8.45pm – Aylesham Project Community Hall, Ackholt Road. Aylesham Ladies Choir holds its weekly practice session. Led by musical director, Lizzi Stephens, they enjoy singing an eclectic range of music and welcome new members.  No previous musical experience or training is required and the subscription is currently £10 per month. Wednesday 5 December 10am-12pm –Aylesham Project, first floor offices, Ackholt Road. Dover District Council officers Emily Barnes and Nick Evans host a drop in session enabling residents to visit and discuss community development issues with them. They can also learn more about the facilities on offer in Aylesham and how people can become involved.

Wednesday 5 December 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to learn more about the history of the village as a whole. The centre features a highly regarded collection of coal mining memorabilia.

Wednesday 5 December 10am 12pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North, weekly arts & crafts group meeting. Cups of tea, a chance to chat as well as enjoy either painting, drawing, knitting or sewing. No experience needed, please just turn up and meet the friendly group, everyone welcome.

Thursday 6 December 12pm-3pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project site, Ackholt Road. Bechange hosts a free homemade creative Christmas workshop. Adults have a chance to get creative, and save some cash, by making their own Christmas crafts and decorations. Please book your space by phoning 01304 840134.

Tuesday 11 December 6.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Aylesham Ladies Choir holds its Celebration of Christmas concert when members, led by musical director Lizzi Stephens, will entertain with a selection of traditional and modern songs for the festive season. All are welcome.

Thursday 13 December 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend.
