Wednesday 5 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Wednesday 5 December 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

 

Thursday 6 December 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Thursday 6 December 12pm-3pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project site, Ackholt Road. Bechange hosts a free homemade creative Christmas workshop. Adults have a chance to get creative, and save some cash, by making their own Christmas crafts and decorations. Please book your space by phoning 01304 840134.

Friday 7 December 10am-2pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 7 December 11.15am-1.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Friday lunch club for those aged 55 or more. £5 for a two course lunch, cuppa and a raffle. Mini market from 12pm to 1.30pm as well.

Friday 7 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 7 December 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. Monday 10 December – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Tuesday 11 December 9.30am-11.30am – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Weekly session to help people brush up on their Maths, organised by East Kent College from entry level to level two. Book a place by calling Bechange on 01304 840134.

Tuesday 11 December 6.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Aylesham Ladies Choir holds its Celebration of Christmas concert when members, led by musical director Lizzi Stephens, will entertain with a selection of traditional and modern songs for the festive season. All are welcome.

Wednesday 12 December 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to learn more about the history of the village as a whole. The centre features a highly regarded collection of coal mining memorabilia.

Wednesday 12 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road. Health professionals from One You Kent are on hand to help you give up smoking. An appointment needs to be made but the sessions are free and the friendly advisors offer lots of help and support. For an appointment, please call One You Kent on 0300 123 1220. Wednesday 12 December 6pm – Aylesham Community Project, Ackholt Road. Aylesham & District Community Workshop Trust holds its annual general meeting. The organisation, which operates the project site and the industrial estate alongside it in Ackholt Road, will host the event in the Snowdown Room of the project building. All are welcome to attend. The agenda will see members offering themselves for re-election, adoption of accounts and an opportunity for the public to ask questions and find out more about the projects supported by the trust.

Thursday 13 December 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Anybody wishing to speak about an agenda item is asked to first contact the parish office on 01304 840377 or email via ayleshamparishcouncil@btinternet.com.

Friday 14 December 7.30pm – St Finbarr’s Church, Market Place. Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band and Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir combine forces for their annual Christmas Concert. Free admission.

Wednesday 19 December 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to  enjoy a mince pie (or two) with members.  This will be the group’s last meeting of the year – they will resume on Wednesday 4 January 2019.
