This events list is compiled by Dover District Council. Wednesday 7 February 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to learn more about the history of the village as a whole. The centre features a highly regarded collection of coal mining memorabilia.

Wednesday 7 February 12.30pm to 2.30pm. St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Soft Play Cafe will be open. Entry is free and a cafe light bites menu will be offering refreshments for sale. Hot food and longer opening hours will come as the cafe and volunteers expand, so any volunteers are welcome. The cafe is open to all, the equipment will be age restricted.

Wednesday 7 February 1pm-2.30pm – Bechange, Ackholt Road. Little Green Fingers Gang is aimed at children aged 0-4 years and their families. Each week there is fun craft, physical and imaginary play. During the summer months and warmer weather children can explore the charity’s community garden and learn about the environment through play and fun activities. The club costs £1 for the first child and 50p for every sibling including refreshments. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Wednesday 7 February – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Snowdown & Aylesham CWFC youth team training sessions . Under 8s and 9s groups run from 5pm until 6pm followed by under 13s from 7pm until 8pm. New members welcome. More information from 01304 849155 or 07866 132438.

Wednesday 7 February 7-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Snowdown Colliery RFC training session. New players welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Wednesday 7 February 7pm-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Walking football session for over 50s. Non competitive, non contact football and work out. More information from www.canterburywalkingfootball.co.uk.

Thursday 8 February 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Thursday 8 February – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project site, Ackholt Road. Weekly meetings of village Beavers and Cubs groups. Beavers (aged 6-8) meet from 5.15pm – 6.30pm and Cubs (aged 8-11) meet from 6.45pm – 8.15pm. The cost is £2 per child per week.

Friday 9 February 10am-12pm – Bechange, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 9 February – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Snowdown & Aylesham CWFC youth team training sessions . Under 11s group runs from 5pm until 6pm followed by under 14s from 6pm until 7pm. New members welcome. More information from 01304 849155 or 07866 132438.

Monday 12 February 10am – Aylesham Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Mental Health Fight Club. A place to find friendship and support while enjoying free activities that promote positive mental health. Weekly meeting led by Laura Moncaster.

Monday 12 February 7pm-8pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Beyond Limits Boot camp for the village. Fitness sessions for adults and children. More information about ticket prices available from the leisure centre or Google Beyond Fitness.

Monday 12 February 7pm-8pm – Aylesham Community Project , Ackholt Road. High Intensity Interval Training with BH Dance. £5 on the door, no booking required and second class is free. HIIT workouts are based around the love of dance. The class is for all fitness levels and uses the latest functional training methods to get fast results. BH Dance with Abi is non-judgemental and supportive.

Tuesday 13 February 7pm-8pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. High Intensity Interval Training with BH Dance. Call to book, free for leisure centre members and £5 for non-members.

Tuesday 13 February – Aylesham Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Youth club meetings led by Pie Factory Music in three sessions according to age group. 5-6.30pm – Junior session for children in school years four to seven. Activities include art and craft, music, games and table tennis. 7pm to 9pm – Senior session for young people in years eight to 13. Arts and crafts, music, games, table tennis, guidance and support. Tuesday 13 February 7.15pm – Aylesham Community Project, Ackholt Road. Aylesham Ladies Choir holds its weekly practice session led by conductor Lizzie Stephens. Wednesday 14 February 10am 12pm – St Peters Church, Dorman Avenue North, weekly arts & crafts group meeting. Cups of tea, a chance to chat as well as enjoy either painting, drawing, knitting or sewing. No experience needed, please just turn up and meet the friendly group, everyone welcome.

Thursday 15 February 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Sunday 25 February 4pm – St Finbarr’s Church, Market Place. Selection of Aylesham Carnival Court 2018. Entries welcome from girls and young women aged between 7 and 21 years old living in Aylesham, Snowdown, Adisham and Nonington. Tuesday 27 February 2pm-4pm – On the last Tuesday of every month. Tuesday Teas at St Finbarr’s Church, Market Place. A full tea for £1.50 and 50p for children. Sandwiches, cakes and as much tea or coffee as you can manage. All are welcome and there is a free raffle too.

Saturday 3 March – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Reunion for those who left the village secondary school in 1974, organised by Liz Travers and Dawn Broadhurst. If you did leave school in 1974, it’s most likely you would have been born in either 1957 or 1958. Partners are welcome to the event as well. Saturday 3 March 7.30pm – Aylesham Community Project, Ackholt Road. Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir will be performing its traditional St David’s Day Concert. This year the special guests will be Aylesham Ladies Choir. Admission £3 at the door. Daffodils optional.

Saturday 3 March 7.30pm for 8pm start – Ratling Club, Ratling Road. Quiz Night in aid of Aylesham Heritage Centre. A small entrance fee of £2 per person will be requested.

 

Among the regular events held in Aylesham are dance classes organised by KCs Dancers. The school is active six days a week. You can view its website for times, venues and prices here.
