This listing also includes regular events held at the Bechange Community Hub which forms part of the Aylesham Community Workshop Trust site in Ackholt Road.

Wednesday 7 November 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Wednesday 7 November 10am-12.30pm – Aylesham Community Project office, Ackholt Road. Dover District Council officers Emily Barnes and Nick Evans hold open house for residents to find out more about the range and variety of facilities which exist in Aylesham and ask questions about the council’s services. No need to book, simply drop by to the first floor office in the old secondary school building. The kettle will be on too.

Wednesday 7 November 11.30am-1.30pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road. Baby goods swap shop. This is a popular event offering parents the chance to swap pre-loved toys, baby and small children’s clothes and equipment.

Wednesday 7 November 1.30pm-3.30pm – New green space, off Corminster Avenue. Moat Homes and Dover District Council host a pop up community event. Weather permitting, they will be joined by a number of local clubs and organisations to enable residents who have recently moved to the area to find out more about activities and services in Aylesham.

Wednesday 7 November 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 8 November 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Friday 9 November 10am-2pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 9 November 11.15am-1.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Friday lunch club for those aged 55 or more. £5 for a two course lunch, cuppa and a raffle. Mini market from 12pm to 1.30pm as well.

Friday 9 November 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 9 November 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. Monday 12 November – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Tuesday 13 November 9.30am-11.30am – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Weekly session to help people brush up on their Maths, organised by East Kent College from entry level to level two. Book a place by calling Bechange on 01304 840134.

Tuesday 13 November  6.10pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Drum n Bass Workout. 7pm Fierce- The Dance Workout for all ages (14+ with a participating adult).

Tuesday 13 November 7.15pm – 8.45pm – Aylesham Project Community Hall, Ackholt Road. Aylesham Ladies Choir holds its weekly practice session. Led by musical director, Lizzi Stephens, they enjoy singing an eclectic range of music and welcome new members.  No previous musical experience or training is required and the subscription is currently £10 per month. Wednesday 14 November 10am-12pm –Aylesham Project, first floor offices, Ackholt Road. Dover District Council officers Emily Barnes and Nick Evans host a drop in session enabling residents to visit and discuss community development issues with them. They can also learn more about the facilities on offer in Aylesham and how people can become involved.

Wednesday 14 November 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to learn more about the history of the village as a whole. The centre features a highly regarded collection of coal mining memorabilia.

Wednesday 14 November 10am 12pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North, weekly arts & crafts group meeting. Cups of tea, a chance to chat as well as enjoy either painting, drawing, knitting or sewing. No experience needed, please just turn up and meet the friendly group, everyone welcome.

An appointment needs to be made but the sessions are free and the friendly advisors offer lots of help and support. For an appointment, please call One You Kent on 0300 123 1220. Thursday 15 November 7.15pm – Aylesham Community Workshop Project, Ackholt Road. Fierce, The Dance Workout, for all ages (11+ with a participating adult).

Thursday 15 November 10am-12.30pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. A weekly session to enjoy a range of traditional board games from draughts, chess to Cluedo and Scrabble. Tea and biscuits available too.

Friday 16 November 9.30am-11.30am – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Weekly session to help people brush up on their English, arranged by East Kent College from entry level to level two. Book a place by calling Bechange on 01304 840134.

Saturday 17 November 12pm-4pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Christmas fair in aid of Aylesham Scouts funds.

Saturday 24 November 7pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Quiz night in aid of Aylesham Scouts funds. £5 per person, please bring your own food and drink.
