Wednesday 12 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Wednesday 12 December 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 13 December 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Thursday 13 December 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Anybody wishing to speak about an agenda item is asked to first contact the parish office on 01304 840377 or email via ayleshamparishcouncil@btinternet.com

Friday 14 December 10am-2pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 14 December 11.15am-1.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Friday lunch club for those aged 55 or more. £5 for a two course lunch, cuppa and a raffle. Mini market from 12pm to 1.30pm as well.

 

Friday 14 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 14 December 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. If you think your child might be interested in joining, or you are willing to help run the group, please get in touch with leader Cassandra Osborne via 01304 841573 or 07488 243525.

Friday 14 December 7.30pm – St Finbarr’s Church, Market Place. Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band and Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir combine forces for their annual Christmas Concert. Free admission.

Monday 17 December – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Tuesday 18 December 9.30am-11.30am – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Weekly session to help people brush up on their Maths, organised by East Kent College from entry level to level two. Book a place by calling Bechange on 01304 840134.

Wednesday 19 December 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road. Health professionals from One You Kent are on hand to help you give up smoking. An appointment needs to be made but the sessions are free and the friendly advisors offer lots of help and support. For an appointment, please call One You Kent on 0300 123 1220. Wednesday 19 December 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to enjoy a mince pie (or two) with members.  This will be the group’s last meeting of the year – they will resume on Wednesday 4 January 2019.

Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 December 12pm-9pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre will be hosts the village’s first Winter Wonderland. It will feature an ice rink, funfair with big and small rides, a Christmas market and Santa’s grotto. It promises to be a great family event with lots to offer for all ages. Freedom Leisure, the centre’s operators, would like to thank several  sponsors who have made the event possible:  Aylesham Community Workshop Trust, Aylesham & Snowdown Welfare, Taylor Gurney, Aylesham Parish Council, Ovendens, the Co-op, General Electric and Karllee Construction.

Sunday 23 December 6pm-8pm – Market Place will be the centre of attention for carol singing around the village Christmas tree for this latest event arranged by the Aylesham4Aylesham group and supported by the parish council. Mulled wine, mince pies and other refreshments are promised. Children will be pleased to know a very special guest will make an appearance.
