Wednesday 8 August 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Thursday 9 August 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Anybody wishing to speak about an agenda item is asked to first contact the parish office on 01304 840377 or email via ayleshamparishcouncil@btinternet.com.

Thursday 9 August 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Friday 10 August 10am-2pm – Bechange, Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and  materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 10 August 10am-12pm – Bechange, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Tuesday 14 August 2.30pm-7pm – Aylesham Parish Council office, Dorman Avenue South. Members of the Aylesham Hub project will be on hand to offer information about the proposed scheme for a new community centre. It is also looking for people to come on board – with as little or as much time and energy as they want to offer. The project is aiming to form a community panel of volunteers and others who have an interest in wanting to build a new community centre for Aylesham and Snowdown. All are welcome. Tuesday 14 August 6.10pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Drum n Bass Workout. 7pm Fierce- The Dance Workout for all ages (14+ with a participating adult).

Wednesday 15 August 10am-12pm – Aylesham Heritage Centre, Dorman Avenue South. All are welcome to drop in between these times to learn more about the history of the village as a whole. The centre features a highly regarded collection of coal mining memorabilia. From 11am, members will be displaying outdoors their recently recreated Kent coalfield banner for anybody who wishes to photograph it.

 

Wednesday 15 August 10am 12pm – St Peters Church, Dorman Avenue North, weekly arts & crafts group meeting. Cups of tea, a chance to chat as well as enjoy either painting, drawing, knitting or sewing. No experience needed, please just turn up and meet the friendly group, everyone welcome.

Monday 27 August (Bank holiday Monday) 9am-6pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, Spinney Lane. Family fun day in aid of Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Early plans include giant inflatables, craft stalls, junior football, and refreshments. Any bands wishing to perform are welcome. Contact Maria Williamson via the leisure centre.
