This list of regular events in Aylesham is published most Wednesdays by the Dover District Council village based communications office which does not accept any liability for errors and omissions.

Please note that Aylesham charity Bechange Community Hub holds a wide range of events from its base at the Aylesham & District Workshop Project site in Ackholt Road. You can contact Bechange on 01304 840134, Tuesdays to Fridays,  or visit www.bechange.org.uk for more information.

Wednesday 15 May 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 16 May 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Thursday 16 May 10.30am-12pm – Aylesham Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. The Vari Vocals singing group holds its weekly meeting.  We are always on the look out for new members who will be very welcome to join us. No previous singing experience is necessary. Friday 17 May 11.15am-1.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. Friday lunch club for those aged 55 or more. £5 for a two course lunch, cuppa and a raffle. Mini market from 12pm to 1.30pm as well.

Friday 17 May 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. Saturday 18 May 11am – Aylesham Dog Walkers meets by the show homes in Dorman Avenue North every Saturday for a gentle walk across nearby fields and countryside.  Dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages are welcome – from puppies learning to socialise to grumpy old pooches. Saturday 18 May 11am-4pm – Aylesham Bowls Club, beside Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre, off Spinney Lane. The club hosts an open day for anybody who wants to try out green bowls as a new pastime. All abilities and ages are welcome. Equipment and coaching will be provided, free, on the day and there is no need to book – simply turn up.  Best footwear is a pair of flat-soled, heel-less shoes or trainers.

Saturday 18 May 1.30pm and 2.30pm, The Old School Hall, Aylesham & District Community Workshop Trust, Ackholt Road. Aylesham Community Hub hosts a public meeting to announce the findings of its initial survey into improving community facilities in the village. The Hub team will share illustrative plans for the building based on suggestions received so far, and explain the next steps in the project. The first talk is at 1.30pm and the second is at 2.30pm. Monday 20 May – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Saturday 25 May midday to 8.30pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre grounds, Spinney Lane. Snowdown RFC hosts a sevens tournament and fun day. Live music, food stands and funfair rides to look forward to – as well as some rugby. The free event is open to all to enjoy.
