Please note that Aylesham charity Bechange Community Hub holds a wide range of events from its base at the Aylesham & District Workshop Project site in Ackholt Road. Wednesday 22 May 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 23 May 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Thursday 23 May 10.30am-12pm – Aylesham Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. The Vari Vocals singing group holds its weekly meeting.  We are always on the look out for new members who will be very welcome to join us. No previous singing experience is necessary. Friday 24 May 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. If you think your child might be interested in joining, or you are willing to help run the group, please get in touch with leader Cassandra Osborne via 01304 841573 or 07488 243525.

Saturday 25 May midday to 8.30pm – Aylesham Welfare & Leisure Centre grounds, Spinney Lane. Snowdown RFC hosts a sevens tournament and fun day. Live music, food stands and funfair rides to look forward to – as well as some rugby. The free event is open to all to enjoy.

Thursday 30 May 4pm-7pm ­– Aylesham Community Workshop Project, Ackholt Road. Public meeting hosted by Southern Water to announce its plans for work connecting Snowdown to the main sewerage system in Aylesham. The project includes the five month long closure of Aylesham Road between the two villages from Monday 10 June until 29 November. (Please look out for separate announcements).

What’s On at Bechange Community Hub

Every week – Games and Pastimes runs every Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm and you can join this friendly group who play a range of games including card, games, Scrabble and bridge.

Upcycling runs every Friday, drop in any time between 10am and 2pm to join the group who upcycling furniture and other pre-loved items

Wednesdays – Residents can drop in every Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 12pm to Bechange’s walk in support services. Guidance and support in issues such as benefit entitlement, housing, budgeting or help with filling in/understanding forms will al be available. Most Fridays Bechange  also hosts  an NHS OneYou Adviser who can offer support on issues which affect physical and mental health.

Wednesday 5 June – Wednesday 26 June – Following Bechange’s successful programme Games, Tools and Adventures for young people funded by Kent County Council, Bechange is now able to offer a new programme,  Clash of Pans funded by KCC and Persimmon Homes.  This free course for young people in years 7 – 11 will include learning practical cookery skills, healthy eating and experimenting with different ingredients.  Participants will cook a snack in our kitchen to enjoy at the end of the session. Weekly Wednesday afternoon 4.30pm to 6pm.

Thursday 6 June to Thursday 4 July – Smart Families Get Fit Together is a free course for families with children in reception to year six.  Families will cook together and make healthy family meals and snacks as well as take part in a fun Active Kids session.  All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Starting on Thursday 6 June to Thursday 4 July 3.15pm – 4.45pm.
