This list of regular events in Aylesham is published most Wednesdays by the Dover District Council village based communications office which does not accept any liability for errors and omissions.

Wednesday 30 January 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road, Aylesham, one stop shop drop in service where you can discuss a range of issues with support workers including solicitors, community wardens and village PCSO Emma Carmichael. You may wish to discuss local crime, domestic abuse or anti-social behaviour as well.

Wednesday 30 January 7.30pm-9.30pm – Baptist Church, Dorman Avenue South. Weekly rehearsal for Snowdown Colliery Brass Band. Some instruments available. If it’s been a while since you last played, that doesn’t matter – feel free to come along and join in.

Thursday 31 January 9.30am-12pm – Aylesham library, Community Workshop site, Ackholt Road. Weekly Citizens Advice Bureau drop in session.

Friday 1 February 10am-2pm – Bechange Community Hub,  Aylesham Project,  Ackholt Road. Join Bechange’s upcycling club. This involves taking old furniture and materials and making them into something new and beautiful. Great fun and good for the environment. This group is run every Friday for adults.

Friday 1 February 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Aylesham Project, Ackholt Road. Benefits and housing advice drop in session. These are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays to offer advice about benefit entitlements, bidding for social housing and help completing forms. The sessions include health advice from an NHS advisor. Simply turn up on the day.

Friday 1 February 7pm-8.30pm – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North. The Aylesham Scout group meets every Friday evening for young people aged 11 or older to enjoy a wide range of activities and games. If you think your child might be interested in joining, or you are willing to help run the group, please get in touch with leader Cassandra Osborne via 01304 841573 or 07488 243525.

Monday 4 February – St Peter’s Church, Dorman Avenue North 5.15pm to 6.30pm Aylesham’s Beavers groups weekly meeting for 6-8 year old boys and girls. Cubs (8-11) gather from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Wednesday 6 February 10am-12pm – Bechange Community Hub, Ackholt Road. Health professionals from One You Kent are on hand to help you give up smoking. An appointment needs to be made but the sessions are free and the friendly advisors offer lots of help and support. For an appointment, please call One You Kent on 0300 123 1220. Thursday 14 February 7pm – Aylesham Parish Council holds its monthly meeting at the White House office in Dorman Avenue South. Residents are welcome to attend. Anybody wishing to speak about an agenda item is asked to first contact the parish office on 01304 840377 or email via ayleshamparishcouncil@btinternet.com.

Saturday 16 February 4.30pm – St Finbarr’s Church, Market Place. Selection event for Miss Aylesham 2019 and carnival court. Arranged by Aylesham Carnival Association, girls aged between 7 and 21 who live in Aylesham, Nonington, Snowdown or Adisham are invited to join in. There are up to eight places on offer to be the carnival queen or one of her princesses for the coming season which will the group attending carnivals all over south east England. Entry forms can be collected from Roses Tea Room in Milner Close, downloaded and printed out via www.ayleshamcarnival.co.uk, emailing aylesham.carnival@hotmail.com or completing a form at the event on the day.  Parental involvement in helping with organisation is not mandatory this year.
